Built to work for everyone.

I want this site to work for everyone, whatever device, browser or assistive tech you use. The target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 (opens in a new tab) at level AA.

It hasn't been formally audited, so I'm not claiming full conformance. I test it myself and fix things as I find them.

I'm colour blind, so this one's personal. Nothing on the site relies on colour alone to tell you something:

• errors come with words and an icon, not just a red outline
• links in text are underlined
• selected options get a tick as well as a colour

Text colours are picked for contrast against their backgrounds, and the loudest accent colours are kept to small details. Try the switch below to see the same buttons with no colour at all.

There's a lot of motion here, on purpose. But if your device is set to reduce motion, the site respects it:

• parallax, drifting clouds and scrolling marquees stop
• smooth scrolling switches off
• confetti doesn't fire
• stickers still drag, but don't fling about

Text and cards still fade in gently, so nothing pops up out of nowhere. Nothing on the site flashes.

• A "Skip to content" link is the first thing you reach with Tab.
• Every link, button and form field shows a clear focus ring.
• The menus open with Enter or Space, move with the arrow keys and close with Esc.
• Every page has proper landmarks and one main heading, with the rest in order.
• Images have alt text. Purely decorative bits are hidden from screen readers.
• Form fields have labels, and errors are announced and explained in words.

The layout reflows down to phone widths without sideways scrolling, and you can zoom the text to 200% without losing anything important.

• Screenshots with text in them. Case-study images show real app screens, some with handwritten notes. They have alt text describing what matters, but not every word in the picture.
• Handwritten notes. The handwriting font is only used for small, decorative notes. Anything important is also in plain text.
• Dragging. Some stickers can be dragged around for fun. Nothing important depends on it, and the 404 page's sticker game also works with a button.
• Things I don't control. Other sites I link to, and the booking calendar if it's switched on, come from other providers. Their accessibility is up to them.
• No formal audit yet. I test with a keyboard, with reduced motion and with browser tools, but I haven't had a full audit by a specialist.
